A police officer in Ohio made a woman sit in her hot car so she could feel what her dog experienced.

The Strongsville, Ohio officer and the woman weren't named, but according to a local police blotter, a concerned citizen called the police to report that a dog was locked inside a car at a local Wal-Mart.

When the woman returned to her car, the police were waiting for her. She told the officers her dog was fine. What happened next is the best part of the story.

According to a story published at Cleveland.com:

"When the owner of the black Nissan Sentra came out, she said the dog was fine. To prove a point, the officer made the woman sit inside of the warm car with the windows up and without the engine on for a few minutes.

The woman said she was fine but the officer noted she looked uncomfortable. The woman was advised if she did this again she would be cited."

Dogs can only cool down by panting or through the pads of their feet. And because of their size, what is "uncomfortable" to humans can be lethal to pets.

An eye for an eye! I have been preaching this type of punishment for quite a while now. When someone is guilty of mistreating an animal, in my opinion the punishment should be exactly what was inflicted on the animal. Same goes for people who abuse children.

If it were up to me, I'd promote this officer as soon as possible.
