Kate Marshall, an all-star sophomore soccer player at York High School, is named Sports Illustrated's Athlete of the month, and at age 15 has faced more adversity than most people in their lifetime.

Kate was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was 7 months old. Kate takes more medications daily than Keith Richards used to in the 70's, has to do 30 minute breathing treatments before going to bed and as soon as she wakes up every morning, and oh by the way, also plays lacrosse, club soccer, and manages a GPA of 3.30.

The SI award recognizes a student athlete who displays strength and character on and off the field. Sports Illustrated will present Kate Marshall during Thursday's varsity girls basketball game against Freeport, 7pm at York High School.
