2025 Data Reveals Massachusetts and New Hampshire are 2nd and 3rd Safest in America
When you watch the nightly news, it's hard to imagine that we live in a world with such violence everywhere. Somewhat comforting to hear that Massachusetts and New Hampshire have both made the Top 3 in a list of all 50 of the safest states in America.

According to Wallethub, they based their findings on 5 categories:
- Personal Safety
- Financial Safety
- Road Safety
- Work Safety
- Emergency Preparedness
Number 2 Safest on the list is Massachusetts.
The site says that financial safety is the category that the Commonwealth is best at. Workers have great job security and the annual growth rate for new jobs is strong. Massachusetts has a small percentage of the population without a bank account and a low number of people who file bankruptcy.
Massachusetts is also known for safe school for children ages 6-17. The Commonwealth also has low levels of crime, with low murder and manslaughters per capita. Many of the people who live here work in jobs that actually keep people safe, so that helped the score as well.
Number 3 Safest on the list is New Hampshire
As a resident of New Hampshire, I am happy to say that the state has very little violence. Very few murders and manslaughters per capita. Also, NH is very safe from nonviolent crime, for example, theft from a store. Wrong, but no one got hurt.
New Hampshire also has financial safety, according to the site, with a 2.6% unemployment rate. The 603 also has the lowest poverty rate.
NH Residents pay their bills. Surprising that we have an average credit score of 749. Not too shabby! We could get a black card from American Express if we wanted!
Who beat Massachusetts and New Hampshire as America's safest state? Vermont. Cows, ice cream and beautiful countryside very safe.
