Saturday, May 23

1. 2nd Annual Best Barn Dance Ever

This event, held by Seacoast Family Promise, a local mission committed to "empower families experiencing homelessness to achieve lasting self-sufficiency." Come experience an event where philanthropy meets fun! Tickets are priced at $25 and include a cookout, live music, and a silent auction fundraiser to benefit the organization. Live artists include Ben Baldwin and and Big Note - so get your dancing shoes ready and teach the kids a fun way to give back during this weekend of remembrance and appreciation.

2. Runner's Alley/Redhook Memorial 5K Road Race

After indulging in that Saturday night BBQ with the family, make your way down to the Redhook Brewery for the 18th annual Runner's Alley/ Redhook Memorial 5K Road Race! The race for adults and kids wishing to compete will begin at 11 am, at a registration cost of $35 ($15 for kids 12 and under.) Kids who do not wish to compete can arrive at 10:15am for the Kid Fun Run at a cost of $5. All kids will recieve free T-Shirts, but don't worry parents, as all finishers will be greeted at the finish line with a complementary Redhook Beer. Whether you wish to run it yourself or cheer on your friends and family, don't hesitate to participate in this awesome event.

3. Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse Tours

For low cost fun and scenic views, make your way down to the Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse in the coastal town of New Castle. Ticket prices range from $4 for adults and $2 for kids 12 and under. A history of the lighthouse will be provided by a tour guide as you climb your way to the top at the lantern room, overlooking to beautiful coastline. Grab the kids and get ready to climb your way through a piece of history.

4. Hampton Beach Fireworks

Wind down Sunday evening by making your way to the beautiful seacoast for an amazing fireworks display on scenic Hampton Beach. Get there early and claim your spot while enjoying awesome live music at the Hampton Beach Sea Shell Stage from 7-9:30 pm. Fireworks will kick off directly following the show at 9:30 pm , so get the family together and bundle up for awesome outdoor entertainment!

Monday, May 25th

5. USS Albacore Children's Book-signing

Parents, bring the kids for a taste of local history at a book-signing by local watercolor artist and Portsmouth native, Denise F. Brown. Denise brings the USS Albacore to life in her animated and exciting tale, sure to satisfy kids and parents alike. After the signing, make your way to see the Albacore come off the page at the exhibit just outside of Portsmouth, where kids 7-and-under are free. An educational and engaging way to teach the kids about an important part of local history.
