An Open Letter to New Hampshire Plow Drivers

Dear New Hampshire Plow Drivers,

When the flakes start to fall here in the Granite State, many of us get to stay snuggly and safe in the comfort of our warm homes, but not you! Many of you receive a call in the middle of the night to start treating the roads in preparation for what's to come. You don't get to cut out early. You hustle until the job is done, even if that means pulling a 10+ hour shift.

Because of you, doctors are able to get to the hospital to perform life-saving surgeries. Firefighters and police officers are able to get around and continue to keep our communities safe. And, less importantly, morning radio hosts are able to make it to their station so they can get behind the mic and try to entertain the hardworking plow drivers. You do so much more than push snow around, and I want you to know you are extremely appreciated.

To all of the people who cramp your style while you're trying to do your job or fly past you at 50 mph in a no-passing zone, go kick rocks.  And to the people who complain about the snow at the end of their driveways, suck it up, buttercup! Get out there with a shovel and be thankful that's your biggest grievance of the day.

I wish I could treat all the plow drivers in New Hampshire to a free coffee and a donut! If I win the lottery, that will be my first order of business.

In the meantime, a simple "thank you" will have to do. Keep up the great work. We are so lucky to have you.
