Authorities Say Gunman Who Shot Papi Thought He Was Someone Else

According to a report from WMUR, the hired gun who shot Papi was there to shoot someone else, but got the two men mixed up because they were wearing similar clothes.

The report goes on to say that the shooter was linked to the Mexican cartel.  Eleven suspects are in custody and police are searching for an additional two more.  According to the story, the man who ordered the hit hasn't been apprehended yet and he ordered the hit on his cousin, who he thought ratted him out to the police eight years ago.  Big Papi is still in the hospital and his condition has been upgraded to GOOD, but he's still got a long road ahead of him.

C'mon, Papi!  We all love you!!  I remember when I met you and all I could say was.... "Thank you for coming!"  haha!

This is the photo I took of him when I met him about 8 years ago now...  Wow.  Time flies!  I'm not sure if you can see them, but he had HUGE diamond stud earrings on.  They were beautiful!  Just like David Ortiz himself.
