Once the sun rose on this majestic winter's morn, I discovered one heck of a smudge left by a hawk that attacked it's own reflection. I'm quite sure I know what the culprit was even though it flew off to fight another day.

The body size and wingspan match up perfectly to the normal dimensions of a 'Cooper's Hawk' As you can see from the footage below, this raptor has a tendency to be threatened and confused by it's own reflection.

Even though they weigh less than 2 pounds, when they pounce on a window in attack mode, they can pack a mighty wallop. I'm glad this guy flew off a bit dazed and our window was only left with his smudgy imprint and not any further damage.
