I don't think the following video uses any computer generated imaging. I also don't think the man is performing some sort of slight of hand or magic trick either. But what I can tell you is this. I tried it for myself and here are the results.

First, I wanted to make sure the cap was not a twist off so I pried one open with a bottle opener. This is what we in the scientific community call "the control". (See Number 4)

Next, I used one thin sheet of regular printer paper and followed the folding pattern perfectly...FAIL! Using my thumb as a fulcrum, the paper was beyond pathetic. No strength and no grip. I would have gotten more torque out of a cobweb or a piece of cheese.

Now I was down to my last hope, a large mailing envelope. You can deliver a full size magazine with this baby, that Guinness cap will fly for sure... WRONG! The paper was way too thick and repeatedly slipped and I think I bruised my fulcrum.

As you can see, this life hack appears to be a lot easier than it actually is, although I don't think it's impossible. I think with one proper sheet of paper with the correct thickness, you can get the grip and strength you need to crack a beer, without crushing your thumb.
