If you're tired of driving up and down the crammed streets of downtown Portsmouth in search of an ideal parking spot then you should be in support of the proposed parking garage on Deer St. It's as simple as that.

For me, it's not even about finding the spot when I'm there. From June to September I won't even make the trip on a Friday or Saturday night because I don't want to have to plan for an hour of playing the parking game. And if it's raining? Forget about it.

The current parking garage is nice, but not big enough anymore. The city is growing with new hotels, and restaurants, so it only makes sense to expand the parking as well. Too many times the existing garage is full and will turn away cars full of Portsmouth hungry people.

(By the way I suggest following @ParkPortsmouth on twitter. Very helpful parking updates)

A new parking garage is exactly what the city needs, and the people who support it need someone to stand up and fight for us. Someone to lead us to victory!

Like Jason Boucher, a Portsmouth resident, who's doing exactly that. Jason is fighting the good fight with his website: Portsmouth Parking Problems (on Facebook and Twitter too!)

Just like you and me, Jason wants the city to grow and would like to see the proposed parking garage built. He's armed with his website and stickers and is hitting the streets looking for fellow parking supporters.

Portsmouth City Council has a public hearing on the parking garage Monday night at 7:00 p.m. This is the time to speak up and show your support!
