Sure it's sad to see him go, but why did it take this long to trade him?

The Celtics finally unloaded Rondo in a trade to the Dallas Mavericks for Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson and some draft picks. We have to assume this was the best deal available.

We also have to understand that Ainge had to do this. There is no way the Celtics were offering Rondo a max contract and the end of the year, and you can't let a player like that walk without getting something in return.

I'm going to miss the guy. He is an electric player and an assist machine. Sometimes you could question his attitude off the court, but on the court he was one of the best competitors and always gave 100%.

He was a big game performer too; you can't say that about many players.

Sure he was immature at times, but I think we saw him grow up a bit. He took young players under his wing and the last couple years couldn't have been more of a pro about the yearly trade rumors.

Rondo was the last member of the epic 2008 championship team and leaves behind great memories of when the Celtics were on top of the basketball world. And my favorite play from Rajon Rondo...cue the goosebumps.

Celtics fans: Prepare yourself for tankapalooza and many, many years of dumpster fire basketball in Boston.
