This really makes me so very sad.  According to a story in the Concord Monitor, TLC Medical Daycare for Adults is closing this month.

I just got off the phone with the owner, Jean Fiske, and she told me that it has just become too much for her, financially.  Medicaid only pays her about $49.00 per day and the VA owes her money.  Not long ago the VA owed her $11,000, they did make a payment to her, now they owe her about 7 or 8,000.  She's been doing this for over 20 years and she just can't do it anymore.  Her census has dropped significantly over the years and with the trouble she's had collecting from the VA and other insurance companies, it was just not viable anymore.

How awful to hear that a place that takes care of elderly people whose family didn't want to put them in a nursing home full time has to close.  Jean told me that many of her clients that come in have various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's.

When I suggested to Jean that there might be a full time pasl there will be a Hail Mary pass for Jean, but she said it is too late for her.
