There are Only 5 People Considered Missing in NH

According to NH State Police, there are only 5 people missing from NH, officially.  The cases listed here are all from years ago.  In doing some research for this article, we found that there are many people who are reported as missing, but then they are found safe and sound or, unfortunately, and tragically, their remains are found.

The Missing 5 Span Across the State

The people in this list are from Coos County to the Vermont border, to the Keene area to the Seacoast in Exeter.  Tammy Lynn Belanger is from Exeter and she is the one that I've heard most about.  According to the Charleyproject.org, there were a couple of leads in Tammy's case, but nothing turned up.  Tammy was literally on her way to school, never showed up, and was never seen again.

NH Now Has Alerts for Adults

We have all heard of the Amber Alerts, but those alerts are for children under the age of 17.

By definition, according to NH State Police, in order for the alert to be activated, it must meet the following criteria:

  • 1. The child 17 years of age or younger is abducted
  • 2. Law Enforcement believes the circumstances surrounding the abduction indicate the child is in danger of serious bodily harm or death, either at the hands of another, or due to a proven mental or physical disability.
  • 3. There must be enough descriptive information about the child, abductor, and/or suspect’s vehicle to believe an immediate broadcast alert would help locate the child.
  • 4. Law Enforcement believes the child and/or abductor are likely to still be in the area.

There are also alerts for missing adults, the difference being that a Missing Vulverable Adult Alert does NOT involve the State's Emergency Alert System, a/k/a EAS System.
