Families are invited to Trick-or-Treat at Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth and organizers promise jack-o'-lanterns, long-dead sea captains, wayward pirates and some frighteningly good fun.

Ghosts on the Banke, the Museum’s family-friendly Halloween event, will take place on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The cost is $8 per person and children under one year old are free.

Lawrence J. Yerdon, president and CEO of Strawbery Banke, said they are thrilled to give people the opportunity to gather outdoors safely.

“Ghosts on the Banke is a family favorite and the essence of the event will be the same as years past with a few additional precautions in place to help ensure the health and safety of attendees," Yerdon said.

Leaders at Strawbery Banke are requiring everyone attending the event, regardless of vaccination status, to wears masks covering the mouths and noses. If attendees do not have masks, one can be supplied at no cost, according to a press release.

Officials in the city of Dover announced over the weekend that Trick-or-Treat has been scheduled for Oct. 30, and this event looks like one of a few that will be fun for families.

On Twitter, officials said Trick-or-Treat will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on the 30th.

For people who can't wait until the end of next month to have some fall fun, there will be the third annual Dover Dog Howloween celebration on Oct. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rotary Arts Pavilion in Henry Law Park, which is located downtown.

Attendees will be able to visit with over a dozen pet-related vendor booths, get some food, participate in demonstrations, hang out in the "beer pound" and try their luck at winning raffle prizes.

Pet owners and their dogs can even Trick-or-Treat at dog-friendly businesses up and down Central Avenue. For more information, read this article posted on Friday.
