Hey dads, are you looking for an opportunity to create a few memories of a lifetime with your kids?  We know you are. Well, here ya go!

This Saturday and Sunday, June 19th and 20th, is another free fishing weekend here in Maine.  That means that a fishing license is not required to cast a line and fish any of the thousands of lakes, ponds, and miles and miles of rivers across Maine.  Anyone, including Maine residents and our out of state visitors, can take advantage of this during those days unless your license has been previously revoked or suspended for one reason or another.

The only thing that you have to do is REGISTER with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and then you're all set!

Wait, there is one more thing, you must abide by Maine's fishing laws as well.

Some of this author's best childhood memories are of those early weekend mornings way back when and my dad would take me fishing.  Just being there in the great outdoors with him while standing on the shore of the lake, baiting a line and then waiting for the bobber to go under, were some of the fondest times that I hold close to my heart now decades later.

Your turn.  What better thing to do the weekend of Father's Day?

The State has even listed places and recommendations from other fishermen as to where to go!

So don't miss this.  Get the kids away from the internet and social media, load them and the fishing poles into the mini-van and head out for a fun day.  Don't forget lunch, and the bait!
