There is a new restaurant that recently opened up in Epping on 125 and my husband and I ate there recently.  Here's what we discovered.

The new restaurant is called "Frida Mexican Bar & Grille," 114 Calef Highway, Epping, New Hampshire, where Huntspoint Barbeque used to be.  We wondered if the restaurant was named after or in honor of Frida Kahlo and the answer to that is yes, but more on that in a minute.

This Restaurant Will Bring You Refried Beans On the House When You Sit Down

The first thing we got from Frida's was the look of the place.  They renovated that entire space and created a lot of room for tables, TV's and a spacious full service bar.  We were invited to sit anywhere we wanted, so my husband plopped himself in front of one of the TV's.  It is football season, after all.

Our waitress, Kayla, came over with water and gave us a few minutes with the extensive menu.  Then, she comes back with chips, salsa and a refried bean plate for dipping.  That is going above and beyond, don't you think?  It was delicious.  What a nice touch.

The menu has everything that you would want in a Mexican restaurant plus some house specials.  My husband ordered the Arroz con pollo, a/k/a rice with chicken and it was the dish of the night.  REALLY flavorful without being too spicy.  He can't really eat spicy food so much, so he was thrilled with that choice.

The restaurant is covered inside and out with pictures of Frida Kahlo, one of Mexico's Greatest artists.  You have probably seen her before even if you are not familiar with her artwork.  She is known for her self portraits.  It is not evident in the menu or anyplace that I could see of why the place is named after her, but it is.

Frida gets a big thumbs up from me and the hub so far.  We'll be back when I can try the cocktails after dry January.

If you've tried this place too, let me know what you think about it.  sarah.sullivan@townsquaremedia.com
