Governor: First Month of Sports Betting Nets NH 15.8 Million

Even without the Patriots in the Super Bowl, 750,000 bets have been made within the first 30 days.

Gov. Chris Sununu says sports betting business is 'booming' since launching less than a month ago. The Republican Governor released a Tweet Tuesday afternoon stating the new program's success. Calling it a "big win for education," Sununu said 27,000 unique users placing bets have generated 15.8 million dollars for the Granite State.

Last December, New Hampshire became the second New England state to offer sports betting. For his part, Governor Sununu placed an $82 first bet on the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl, according to WMUR News 9 Okaaaaayyy, so that didn't exactly work out, but the program is faring much better. 

The contract between Boston-based DraftKings, and the New Hampshire Lottery was approved in late November by Executive Council, which advises the governor. According to the Concord Monitor, New Hampshire will receive 50% of sports betting revenue.
