Where Can You Cool Off in Portsmouth?

You don't have too much time left, but the Pierce Island pool is open from now until Friday, August 20, 2021.  The address for your GPS is 99 Peirce Island Rd, Portsmouth, New Hampshire

The Pool Opens Every Day at 11am

If you have little ones, you might have to keep them occupied until 11am when the pool opens, but when it does, prepare to have a ton of fun all day long until 6p.

Admission is Free for Portsmouth Residents

If you live in Portsmouth, you can go to the pool for free.  If you don't live in Portsmouth, but would still like to use the pool, you can pay a small admission fee of $4 for adults and children under 18 for $2.

There are Guidelines To Follow

According to the City of Portsmouth's website, please note:

  • The pool house will be open, with all of the windows and doors open. Staff will monitor occupancy so that it does not become over-crowded. There will be a limited option of drinks (including water) for sale in the bathhouse.
  • Please bring your ID with you to each visit to show that you live in Portsmouth.
  • Swim lessons will not be held this summer.

Large Groups Need Prior Approval

The City's website states that if you have more than eight people that want to use the pool, you have to contact the pool 24 hours in advance.  They have to make sure that there is enough room for the public as well.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
