Because of the horrendous conditions and potholes on many of the roads in the seacoast, effective immediately, I will be driving down the middle of the road.

I know we go through this every year, but this go-round I'm taking a new tactic. The shoulders of many of the roads I travel on daily are the worst. If you're not paying complete attention to where your tires are headed, you could be in for some major repair bills.

The center of many of these roads aren't much better, but they appear to be easier to spot, at least for me. So that's where you'll find me.

I understand that driving down the center of a two lane road isn't necessarily what we were taught in driver's ed, and may, in fact be illegal in some counties. But I'm giving you fair warning. If you see a red Hyundai barreling down the middle of the road, please give me room and let me by.

I do most of my driving in the wee small hours of the morning, so I figure I'm good to go for at least half of my commute.

It also makes fiscal sense. I'm sure a ticket for driving down the middle of a two lane road isn't as much as a broken axle, rim, or new tires.
