Kappa Delta Epsilon had to change the theme of an annual party because some students thought it was offensive to other cultures. Really having trouble seeing the connection here.

I can't tell what is "racist" and what isn't anymore. Seriously.

Darthmouth College's Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority was targeted by protestors last year for their annual Kentuck Derby-themed party. Apparently, the protestors thought that the theme of the party celebrated "pre-war southern culture" and was offensive to minorities.

Well they got their wish because The Dartmouth reports that the sorority has changed the theme this year.

Even though I lean heavily on the socially-liberal side of things, supporting love and opportunity for all people, I just cannot comprehend the mental gymnastics some people go through when it comes to race.

The Kentucky Derby is an event where tiny people ride horses until one of them crosses the finish line. Onlookers who enjoy being bored wear fancy clothes and watch it all happen. Let me know if you see anything racist in that description because I don't see it.

The derby began AFTER the Civil War and is more offensive to horses than non-white culture. So are we saying that anything that started in The South is racist now? Do I have to give up my sweet iced tea because some moron will pull a "Six Degrees of Racist" (a more annoying version of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon) to link it to pre-war slavery?

Maybe horses are naturally racist animals and silently mutter "white power" whenever they are eating their oats. I'm kidding because everyone knows that horses are the most tolerant animals out there (and sheep are actually the most racist.)

Just because something is a part of what you protestors call "white culture" does not mean it is automatically oppressive.

As far as the sorority's theme goes, it is a fact that college students love dressing up in dumb outfits and drinking their bodyweight in booze. It is a time-honored tradition that girls love and guys tolerate because they want to hook up with the girls. Togas, mobster attire, anything-but-clothes and everything in between.

I love my liberal-loving friends as much as my conservative-loving friends, but there are extremes to both sides of these ideologies that need to be reigned in. On the left we have "cry wolf" protestors who have their finger on the trigger to fire off on anything and everything they perceive to be racist.

This group of people go with the "Swinging Shotgun" strategy to fighting racism, which is shooting blasts in all directions until they hit something. They are harmful to social progress because they are focusing our attention on racism that isn't there. All of this nonsense of racial "microagressions" and perceived oppression distract the public from real issues between the many cultures in our nation.

And they are just giving ammo to ACTUAL racists who will point to these silly stories and go: "See, see? Look at how these protestors are trying to destroy white culture and blow everything out of proportion!"

Ignore preppy college students and white people in dreadlocks because we have REAL problems between police officers and communities in our country. We have to fight actual battles against idiots in power who are actually oppressing minority groups. We don't need to worry about teenagers wearing nice outfits so they can throw up in them later.

So what will KED change the theme to their party to now? These ladies have been in some hot water lately, so I think they should keep it low key. Here are some ideas:

Maybe go for a Nascar theme? (No, no it started too close to the south.) How about an Egyptian-themed party? (Shoot. There was slavery so can't do that.) A Star Wars party? (Princess Leia was Jabba's slave for a few scenes. Never mind.)
