Hundreds of Amazing (and Kinda Scary!) Scarecrows are Back in Chester, NH
The Chester Historical Society's annual fundraiser is back. Take a look at this video from a few years ago.
According to the Chester Historical Society's website:
Scarecrows are made by the Chester Historical Society, and can be purchased for $20. You will receive a head and wooden body frame with purchase. Contact Jackie Brown for more information at 887-3842. Special orders can be taken. Proceeds from scarecrow sales go directly to the Chester Historical Society.
I do think it's a cute idea and if you ever want an example of the quintessential New England Small town, Chester would be a great pick. For the winter, just take a drive through Chester and look at all the beautiful houses decorated for the holidays. Martha Stewart herself would give a big thumbs up!
Having said that, there is something a little creepy about the scarecrows - especially if you see them at night. Tim Burton ought to come see the town. I'm sure these things come to life after we've gone to bed. Maybe I should take a drive to Chester. It's not far from my house - face my fears and maybe even buy one!
