The Old Salt in Hampton, New Hampshire had an early morning fire this morning.  They will be closed today to allow for clean up and to assess the damage.

The announcement of the fire and the closing on their Facebook page also said how grateful they were that everyone is unharmed and safe.  They are also thankful for the local fire department and first responders.

WMUR has reported that the fire started in the attic which triggered the buildings sprinkler system.  There is water damage on the first and second floor.

The support from the community has already offered comfort to the owners.  Here's one Facebook comment that sums up the sentiments of most:

I'm glad everyone is safe. You have a community who loves all of you. Please let us know if there's anything we can do.

Customers also sent their gratitude to the first responders.

The Old Salt is one of those places that feels like home.  My sister and I were there not long ago and we looked around at things that have been there since the first time we ever walked into the place, which was probably about 20 years ago.  Many customers have been going there for longer than that.  It's an important place in our community.

Here's hoping they will be back up and running soon.
