As soon as I was too old to trick or treat, that was it. Halloween game over.

Halloween was fun for me for about 9 or 10 years. I had a good run with good friends who inspired each other to come up with better and more creative costumes each year. Of course the payoff every year was the candy (and the occasional destruction of a pumpkin or two).

I was lucky enough to live in a dream of a neighborhood for Halloween. Over 500 houses were in our development, so out we would go for hours with pillow cases and have Halloween candy until Easter.

Then it all stopped. We moved, I got older, and that was that. I lost all interest in Halloween. I didn't attend a Halloween party for many years, until I found out it was mandatory for radio stations to host them. Even then, I didn't dress up. I just don't get into it.

By the way, for those of you who say that Halloween is the biggest 'Holiday' next to Christmas, check out these consumer spending charts. More money is spent on Father's and Mother's Day than Halloween. It's near the bottom of the list.

But to each his own, I say. I'll have my bowl of candy at the ready for all the little ghosts and goblins who knock on my door. If they make it through the treacherous maze I'll have set up, that is.
