What To Know About Impending Layoffs at Nestle in Massachusetts and New Hampshire
Nestle, the world's largest food distributor, announced it will lay off around 16,000 jobs. Many of these will be white collar jobs and many other jobs will be replaced by automation in order to automate processes and improve productivity, according to cnn.com.

The Overall Job Cuts to Nestle Will Be About 6%
6% of the workforce will be laid off. It is not clear at this time if the locations in New Hampshire and Massachusetts will be affected.
From the locator map on their website, they have one office in New Hampshire and several in Massachusetts.
- Seabrook, New Hampshire, Sales Office
- Boston, Massachusetts, Retail
- Cambridge, Massachusetts - Sales Office
- Canton, Massachusetts, Sales Office
- Newton, Massachusetts, Retail. This location is advertising for a job. They need a seasonal hourly worker to keep up with the holiday demand, but I would be prepared to get the old heave ho after the holidays. Just a presumption on my part.
- Sudbury, Massachusetts, Headquarters. This location is also advertising for jobs for warehouse workers. Probably once again to keep up with the holiday demand.
- Waltham, Massachusetts, Sales Office
The new CEO had this to say in the statement they issued:
The world is changing, and Nestlé needs to change faster. This will include making hard but necessary decisions to reduce headcount.
Just a guess on my part, but if I was a bettin' gal, I would venture to say that the Sales offices won't be touched unless there are Sales Managers at the "white collar" executive level. The retail locations, I would guess, are going to be okay until after the holidays.
