It’s the 44th Anniversary of JAWS! Here’s 3 Facts You Never Knew
It's the anniversary of the movie, JAWS. The original came out on June 20th, 1975 and was the first scary movie that I ever saw in a movie theater. I remember my Mother being scared out of her wits! I was only 8 years old and remember thinking that would never happen to me. I think I just loved to swim so much that I didn't allow myself to be afraid. Can't keep this water sign out of the water..... ANYWAY, here are three things that you may not have known about the movie:
- According to Jaws Wiki, the movie was filmed here in New England. The fictitious island, Amity Island, is taken after the real life, Martha's Vineyard.
- According to the IMDB, Robert Shaw who played Quint and Richard Drefuss who played Hooper, could not stand each other and the two argued all the time, which resulted in some good tension between Hooper and Quint.
- The IMDB also states that composer John Williams conducted the orchestra during the 1976 Academy Awards, so when it was announced that he won the Oscar for Best Score, he had to run up to the podium to accept his Oscar and then run back to continue conducting the orchestra.
Bonus fact: the IMDB also says the famous line, "You're gonna need a bigger boat." was completely ad-libbed by Roy Scheider and not in the original script.
