As March rolls in, Portland, Maine is preparing for one of its most festive traditions: the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. Each year, residents and visitors gather in the Old Port to celebrate Irish heritage with music, dancing, and plenty of green.

With the parade right around the corner, excitement is building as people get ready to line the streets and enjoy one of the city’s most anticipated spring events.

The Irish American Club’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, March 15 at 12:00 p.m. The parade will begin at the Portland Fish Pier and travel along Commercial Street, one of the city’s busiest waterfront areas. From there, the parade will continue through the Old Port before finishing at Bellbuoy Park, just near the Casco Bay Ferry Terminal.

Spectators can expect a lively celebration filled with marching bands, bagpipers, Irish dancers, community groups, and decorated floats. Local police and fire departments also participate, helping make the parade a fun and family-friendly event for the entire community.

Many people arrive early to find a good spot along Commercial Street, wearing green and cheering as the parade makes its way through the city.
