There has been a lot of turnover in the Portland, Maine, restaurant scene over the last couple years. There have been several longstanding eateries in the city that have thrown in the towel and called it quits after years and years in business.

But there are still some standards that continue to thrive in Portland. One of those standards is Yosaku, a Japanese restaurant that specializes in sushi. It's been a favorite of both locals and tourists since its inception in 2003.

And now, Yosaku is ready to roll out to a bigger audience.

Yosaku Plans to Expand With a New Restaurant in South Portland, Maine

Yosaku has been a Portland, Maine, staple for sushi fans for over two decades. But in recent years, frequent visitors to the restaurant began to notice a few changes.

Those changes included a change of ownership. The Yosaku brand was purchased by the Tran family who fully believed in the restaurant. Since taking over, they've made improvements to their Portland location and are now ready to expand their footprint by embarking on a expansion of Yosaku into South Portland.

Yosaku Plans to Take Over the Old Elsmere Space in South Portland, Maine

According to Portland Old Port, Yosaku is taking over the old Elsmere space on Cottage Road in South Portland. Their plan to is to transform the interior of the restaurant and deliver the neighborhood a new restaurant that stays true to what Yosaku is while offering a few new items.

Yosaku hasn't chosen a name for their new restaurant and as of this writing there is no firm grand opening date.
