Maine Ranked Amongst Top States in Nation to Encounter a UFO

For decades, stories have poured in about human beings having encounters with alien lifeforms. Typically, those encounters are relegated to something seeing an unidentified flying object.

For a long time in American history, claiming to have seen or interact with a UFO made the general public believe you were a little off your rocker. But today, the fascination with UFOs and extraterrestrial life is at an all-time high.

So the website Action Network (which crunches numbers and plays odds) took UFO sighting data from every state across the country and calculated the likelihood of spotting something supernatural in the sky. Unsurprisingly, Maine is near the top of the list.

Maine is the Fifth Most-Likely State in the Nation to Spot a UFO

Based on the data from Action Network, your odds of spotting a UFO in Maine are roughly 1:1,226.

There's about 89 reported UFO sightings or interactions in Maine per 100,000 residents. That may not seem like a lot but it ranked Maine as the fifth-highest state in the country for frequency involving UFO sightings.

Vermont Tops the List of States You're Most Likely to Encounter a UFO

Another New England state offers the best odds to encounter a UFO. That would be Vermont, where 97 of every 100,000 residents has reported a UFO sighting or interaction.

Montana, Washington and Alaska join Vermont and Maine in the top 5. One thing that is notable is that all the states with the most frequent reported UFO sightings are heavily-wooded states with vast amounts of rural area.

Maine Has Had Several Notable Reported UFO Interactions

Over the last 50 years, Maine has found itself in the headlines thanks to some very notable and peculiar UFO encounters.

Perhaps the most famous one is the Allagash abduction which took place in 1976 where 4 men on a wilderness trip were reportedly abducting by aliens.

Another famous UFO instance in Maine came from Loring Air Force Base in 1975 where an unidentified flying object was caught on radar.
