La Dolce Vita means "the sweet life" in Italian, and it sure is for new owners Adel Semmar and his nephew Souhail.  Together, they are transforming downtown Dover, New Hampshire, into an Italian destination for food.

According to the What's Happening in (or to) Dover NH Facebook group, the new restaurant is set to open sometime this winter, and the owners bring a boatload of experience in Mediterranean meals.

Café Mediterraneo in Portsmouth was a previous ownership for Adel Semmar, and it's still a 30-year staple in this community.   The owners say that if you love Café Mediterraneo, you'll love La Dolce Vita, as they will have similar menus.

If you peer through the window in the spot where the Sassy Biscuit was – the Orpheum building on Washington Street in Dover – you can still see the long counter and all the bistro tables. But that's about to change.

The plan, according to Fosters.com, is to replace the long counter with a 10 to 12-person bar.  The restaurant will be serving a great wine list, beer, and cocktails in the 100-seat restaurant.

The Sassy Biscuit closed abruptly closed on December 13.  Residents of Dover didn't have to wait long to hear about the new tenants.

Facebook users added:

Lets go!!! Was one of my favorite spots of "old Portsmouth'

Excellent! Dover needs a good Italian place!

How exciting 💕
We need a new downtown Restaurant!! Can’t wait

So the people of Dover seem to be excited about a new and different restaurant.

While the Semmars are Moroccan, they worked in Boston's North End and know Italian cuisine.  The question is, will they dabble in a few Moroccan dishes too to make it interesting and more Mediterranean?  We will find out soon.
