Ahh, the drive-in movie theater - one of the best first date activities in the history of first dates. It was the opportunity to curl up next to your spouse or girlfriend, in an acceptable yet public environment.

Plus, watching a movie outside is way more fun than inside a building...

Drive-ins were incredibly popular from the late 1950s through the 1960s, but even today, they hold a lot of nostalgia and fun. Unfortunately, in the past decade or two, more and more drive-ins have closed - we may need to blame Netflix and other streaming services for that.

Today, there are only two drive-in movie theaters in New Hampshire that are fully operational, with a third being used only for select events. Below are the two (three) drive-ins still active today in New Hampshire.

Milford Drive-In, Milford, New Hampshire

According to the Milford Drive-In website, the Milford Drive-In is open every night except Mondays and Tuesdays. There are two screens at the Milford Drive-In, with movies starting around 8:45-8:50 PM.

It seems that each week, four movies rotate on the two screens, depending on the day of the week. Instead of charging per person, the price is $35 per car (up to six people).

Northfield Drive-In, Hinsdale, New Hampshire

Unlike the Milford Drive-In, Northfield Drive-In charges $13 per adult and $7 per child, according to their website. Children under six years old get in for free!

There is only one screen here; however, they maximize the single screen with a double feature - one at 8:40 PM and another at 10:30 PM. The drive-in has been around for 77 years.

Weirs Drive-In Theater, Laconia, New Hampshire

The Weird Drive-In permanently closed in 2024, according to a WMUR article. On the Weirs Drive-In website, however, there were some showtimes on specific weeks.
