When Is Trick-or-Treating? Here Are the 2026 Halloween Times Around Dover, NH
If you have a little Elsa, superhero, princess, monster (or in my case, a tiny Minion!) at home, it’s time to start planning the Halloween candy route.

My daughter is going to be a Minion this year because one of her absolute favorite movies is Despicable Me, and I am already trying to mentally prepare myself for the cuteness. Now comes the important question every parent is asking: When exactly are we supposed to go trick-or-treating?
And if you’re new to the Seacoast, you might be surprised to learn that not every town celebrates Halloween on Halloween night.

Here are some of the trick-or-treating times around Dover and neighboring communities for 2026:
Dover: Friday, October 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. The city says celebrating the night before Halloween is a Dover tradition.
Somersworth: Friday, October 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Portsmouth: Friday, October 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Rochester: Friday, October 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. Rochester also held its Downtown Trick-or-Treat on October 24, giving families another chance to dress up and collect some candy.
Durham: Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Madbury: Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Barrington: Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Newmarket: Friday, October 30, from 5 to 7 p.m.
And if you’re heading south into Maine, Kittery’s official town announcement lists trick-or-treating for Friday, October 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.
