Yesterday afternoon, many people gathered in protest of the flu shot mandate for all students in Massachusetts, as mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Health, according to a story from WCVB.  The mandate is for children attending state schools, elementary through college.  You don't have to, however, if there is a religious or medical reason why you can't get one.

People carried signs yesterday that said, "My body, my choice" and "my child, my choice."

The organizer of the rally, Vinny Delaney, according to the report said:

There’s no rhyme or reason why a flu shot should be mandated by the governor...  it’s a parent’s right to choose what they do with their child.

Some people that went to the rally were not anti-flu vaccine, they were worried that this will set a precedence for the government to set other rules.

Although we are in a turbulent time in our history right now, I do value the right to protest for whatever reason I may disagree with.  That's what this country is based on, right?  For instance, I don't think it's right that I have to pay an ungodly amount of real estate taxes because I live in a wicked nice state and I have the right to protest.  It doesn't mean that I won't have to pay my taxes because I will.  We remember the famous Browns, don't we?  MAN, what a story THAT was.  I remember thinking there is NO WAY these people are getting out of paying taxes.  It's a crazy story that you can read about here.
