Massachusetts Woman Rescued After She Got Stuck in Mud for a Week

Mud season is lasting a little too long in New England.

According to the Stoughton Police Department, 31-year-old Emma Tetewsky was found by hikers who couldn't reach her. She had been stuck in the mud for one week.

She was found in Borderland State Park in North Easton, Massachusetts. She was found by hikers who said they heard her yelling for help, but they couldn't get to her on foot. That's when they called the police and helped guide them to Emma.

They had to use ATVs and get through thick brush and swamp to reach her. She was alert and taken by ambulance to a hospital for observation. Her parents say that she left her cell phone at home and when she didn't return, they were very worried. Usually, this type of story doesn't have a happy ending. So many people immediately started to search for her on their own.

According to CBS News, Emma has several mental challenges. It was a huge effort for not just the police, but the community who never gave up hope. Her mother told WBZ,

I want to thank everybody that's texted, called, emailed, showed love and concern. The search rescue teams and the county.

She has what police described as serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Without those hikers, this might have been a completely different story. It's amazing when everyone comes together to help someone who needs it. Because of that effort, Emma is going to be okay.
