A replica of the ship that landed near Plymouth Rock will be part of a milestone celebration next year.

Next year will mark the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims’ landing in Massachusetts. To celebrate, a replica of the pioneering ship Mayflower will sail to Boston.

According to Boston.com, once it arrives, you'll be able to board it for free! Organizers say that the Mayflower II will be on display next year at the Charlestown Navy Yard from May 14 to May 19, the website reports.

While the original Mayflower was lost to history after it returned to England, a full-scale replica ship was built there in the 1950s and has been berthed in Plymouth Harbor, according to Boston.com. The site stated that more recently, the Mayflower replica has been undergoing an $11.2 million restoration at the Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut since 2016.

The Mayflower in Boston makes sense, but what about Plymouth? Seems like that would be a fitting destination. Well, you're right.

Plans are to take it back to Plymouth following the Mayflower Sails 2020 event, according to Boston.com.
