U. S. Gold & Pawn, Manchester, New Hampshire

This writing comes with a warning: you may burst out into uncontrollable sobs, so break out the tissues.

A woman who sometimes helps out at U. S. Gold & Pawn on South Willow Street in Manchester, New Hampshire, Jenelle Marie, got to know Donald, a 90-year-old New Hampshire veteran.  Donald came into the pawn shop with some gold jewelry he wanted to pawn so he could pay his medical bills for his wife, who was recently diagnosed with dementia.  Donald's landlord also had to raise his rent, so he was in dire straits.  Thank GOD he found Jenelle.  She started a GoFundMe account, and at of the time of this writing, the GoFundMe contributions are almost $400,000.

Here's the original TikTok post that Jenelle posted, and it has gone viral.

Maybe you haven't pulled out the tissues yet.   Well, buckle up.  This report that WMUR did is a super tear-jerker.

Donald said in a Fox News story that he's very afraid that if he can't pay his rent, he'll be displaced, and his wife will have to go into a home.  Seriously, I can't.  Somebody hand me the whole box of tissues.

I had the opportunity to speak with Jenelle, and she said that it really wasn't just her (yes it was).  She said that it was her fiancé and the owner of the shop who helped as well.  Jenelle also told me that she used to work with the elderly as an LNA.  I KNEW IT.  She is all heart, that woman.  You can even hear it in the TikTok video.

God Bless you, Donald. We don't do enough for the elderly as a society.  The older population is left to fend for themselves, and if they can't, they are thrown into "elderly housing." Not to mention elderly veterans.

We need to do better.
