Alex Preston, Mont Vernon native and American Idol finalist, could get a parade and perform in a concert at UNH's Whittemore Center if he advances to the top three contestants. The top three finalists will be announced tonight during the American Idol broadcast at 9:00PM on Fox.

If you haven't been watching American Idol this season, just know that Alex Preston hasn't come out of nowhere. He's been one of the favorites since the beginning. This week's theme was "Love: breakups and make-ups." Here's a clip of Alex performing "Too Close" by Alex Clare from last night.

UNH has announced the parade and concert will take place on Saturday, May 10. The parade will tentatively begin at 4:30PM, and the concert at 7:00PM. Both events are free and open to the public.

UPDATE: Alex Preston advanced to the final three in American Idol! The homecoming celebration is on as planned. The day begins with a ceremony in Mont Vernon with Gov. Maggie Hassan at 1:00PM, then it's off to UNH for a parade at 4:30PM and a concert to follow at the Whittemore Center at 7:00PM.
