NH Law Enforcement Pays Respects to Fallen Mass. State Trooper

New Hampshire law enforcement and public safety agencies joined Massachusetts in mourning the passing of Massachusetts State Police trooper Tamar Bucci Thursday night.

Bucci, 34, was struck by a tanker truck hauling 10,000 gallons of gasoline on Route 93 in Stoneham just before midnight, as she attempted to pull over and assist a driver parked on the side of the road. State Police said the force of the collision pushed her cruiser, a marked Ford Interceptor SUV, off the road.

Two Good Samaritans pulled Bucci out of her vehicle and a Stoneham Police officer performed CPR until EMS arrived, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The driver of the truck, a Methuen man, was not injured.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker ordered flags at all state buildings to be lower to half-staff in Bucci's honor.

"There is no greater sacrifice than giving your life in service of others. Trooper Tamar Bucci embodied the best of the Massachusetts State Police, and her loss is devastating to her loved ones, the Commonwealth, and her brothers and sisters in blue," Baker said in a statement.
