Old Orchard Beach, Maine

With all the summer hot spots in Maine, Old Orchard Beach is at the top of the list. As soon as the temperature rises, locals and tourists alike flock to the infamous pier for pier french fries and Bill’s Pizza by the water.

I’m not sure if Justin Trudeau makes a public announcement every season or what, but Canadians come en masse to the beach and hit up the pier for the best summer food, spectacular views, beachside shops, surfable waves, and New England’s only beachfront amusement park.

Palace Playland at Old Orchard Beach

Old Orchard’s beachside amusement park is opening for its 120th season on May 28 at 12:00 p.m. That is not a typo… the amusement park has seriously been open for 120 years.

The amusement park has 25+ rides and the 24,000 square foot arcade is filled with more than 200 games. There is never a loss of things to do at Old Orchard Beach, whether it’s the Thursday night fireworks, miles of sandy beach, the rides, or the games. Plus, there are even more coming to the park in the very near future.

Palace Playland Gets New Ride

According to a press release by Palace Playland, the amusement park will soon be welcoming a new thrilling ride that’s the, “only ride of its kind New England.” The new ride, “Cliff Hanger”, will be making its debut later this spring and will bring guests on an exhilarating ride with the feeling of soaring more than 40 feet over Old Orchard.

There will also be new games at the arcade, according to the press release, and another exciting announcement for the 2023 season will be released later this summer.

It’s almost time to flock back to the pier, so grab your day passes or season passes at Palace Playland’s website and mark your calendars for May 28. We’ll see you soon!
