Popular New Hampshire Restaurant Closed After Links to Salmonella

BUBA Vietnamese Kitchen and Noodle Bar has stellar reviews and an intense following, with plenty of four and five-star ratings. I noticed this when I googled the Manchester, New Hampshire eatery once I heard it had shut down for salmonella poisoning.

According to the BUBA Noodle Bar Facebook page, the Manchester Health Department ordered this popular noodle bar to close its door temporarily on Friday, May 20, so that the department could start its investigation.

The health department said it was merely protocol at that point, because the owners of BUBA had already voluntarily closed their doors and have been cooperating with the investigation, along with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.

BUBA is getting lots of support on their Facebook page and are being honest about what's going on. The owners posted this.

The owners of BUBA Noodle Restaurant wish to share an update for why we unexpectedly had to close our doors on Friday. We were notified by the City of Manchester Department of Health of a salmonella outbreak associated with our restaurant affecting a small number of our patrons. As soon as we were notified, we shut down operations to take immediate steps to remedy the problem.

If anyone reading this is feeling ill and has been a customer at BUBA in the last week, please notify your doctor. BUBA will remain closed until this problem is fully resolved. We are working closely with the Manchester Health Department and the State of NH and we are following all recommendations.
Our restaurant will undergo a professional cleaning and will fully abide by all recommendations of the Manchester Health Department. We assure you that we will not reopen until the city approves all BUBA'S standards of practice and clears us of any further concerns.
Customer safety is our number one concern. We consider all of you part of our extended family and we are deeply sorry for this situation. We appreciate your past support and hope we can count on it in the future. Many thanks for the help of the Manchester Health Department.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the symptoms of Salmonella poisoning are diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. The CDC says those symptoms usually begin six hours to six days after the infection, and last four to seven days. There are cases, however, where people don't develop symptoms for several weeks after they contracted the infection.

I've personally never been to BUBA, but I applaud them for being so forthright and transparent. Clearly, fans of the restaurant do too, and can't wait for it to reopen.
