It's fancy cheese season. Unfortunately, one is being recalled from Whole Foods for possible listeria contamination.

If you regretted splurging (I mean, it's listed at nearly $25 per pound!) on Dorset cheese at Whole Foods, good news. You can get your money back, as it's being recalled due to listeria.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, "listeria monocytogenesis is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, pregnant women and others with weakened immune systems." Even healthy people could get more than the 'cheese sweats' (it's real thing, trust)  with "high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths and fetal infection among pregnant women."

Per Boston.com, The affected product was cut and wrapped in plastic with a Whole Foods Market scale label, identifiable by PLU code 97776 with sell-by dates through 10/30/2019.

Dorset doesn't mess around.

According to cheese.com, Dorset is a soft-ripening cheese with a firm orange basket-weave crust around the rich, buttery bright yellow interior. This means it's not going to squirt out of a can.

According to Whole Foods, no illnesses have been reported. If you purchased Dorset at Whole Foods Market, bring a valid receipt into stores for a refund. This is why you save the receipt...always. New Hampshire has two Whole Foods locations. One in Bedford, and the other in Nashua.
