REI plans to open their first New Hampshire location this weekend, according to Fashion Network Us, and the outdoor giant is also pumping $20,000 into the local economy.

Here in New Hampshire, if you wanted to visit an REI store, it was a road trip. Massachusetts has four locations, three are in Connecticut, and there's even one in Rhode Island. How does an area with the White Mountains not have an REI? This Weekend, it's a whole new world.

REI Co-op is set to open its first New Hampshire store in North Conway. REI will be located in the Settlers Green shopping area, and will offer gear and outdoor experiences to a community of 53,000 REI co-op members located in the state, according to Fashion Network.

Not a member? A lifetime membership is available for $20, per their website.

REI has already immersed itself in the local community. According to Fashion Network, REI said it is investing $20,000 in the Mt. Washington Valley Trails Association to help construct the North Conway Recreation Path. It has already donated a reported $200,000 to the National Forest Foundation, supporting trail restoration work along the the White Mountain National Forest’s Crawford Path.

REI vice president of retail, Rachel Ligtenberg said in the article that “North Conway is an exciting location, as it allows us to serve our New England members in the heart of where they recreate.”

Get there early. Per their website, door prizes are handed out each day when the store opens to the first first 250 people 18 and older.
