Get ready folks! The holidays are coming! Rochester's 5th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Friday, December 4th. The ceremony is from 5:30PM-6:30PM at Central Square in downtown Rochester and is presented by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce. According to Fosters.com,

The event, underwritten by Frisbie Memorial Hospital, will include cookie decorating at the Chamber office courtesy of Rochester Child Care Center, dance performances by Studio 109 Dance, Voice & Drama, hot chocolate and cookies provided by Citizens Bank, nativity scene photo booth courtesy of The Commons Church, caroling provided by the Frisbie Memorial Hospital carolers and a very special visit from Santa Claus.

Plus, kids can visit with Santa at Federal Savings Bank during the event and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' will be read by Mayor Thomas T.J. Jean.

Many downtown restaurants and stores will be offering specials and discounts. You also have an opportunity to help children at the Homeless Center of Strafford County, according to Fosters.com.

There will also be a collection benefiting children at the Homeless Center of Strafford County, sponsored by Service Credit Union. Items being collected include new books for children ages 8-17, new puzzles for children ages 12 and up, small stuffed animals, and paper towels. Items may be brought to the tree lighting on Dec. 4 or to Service Credit Union branches at 90 South Main St. or 116 Farmington Road (inside Wal-Mart) or to the Chamber office through Dec. 18.

Well, hard to believe it, but the holiday season is just about here, sounds like Rochester is the place to be on December 4th!
