Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Closed Temporarily

NHDOT says bridge is not cooperating with it's operators.

The bridge that connects Kittery and Portsmouth on the RT. 1 bypass malfunctioned on Sunday and thus the bridge was closed all day.

Operators were able to lift the bridge Sunday night to let boats pass under, but as of Monday morning, the bridge is stuck in the up position.

Traffic detours are in place.

The new bridge can't be built fast enough.
