Saturday is Drug Take Back Day on the Seacoast

Saturday is the annual Drug Take Back Day at police departments around the Seacoast, which gives people the chance to turn in prescription drugs with no questions asked.

Dover Police are among many departments that will collect expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs as well as vape pens and e-cigarette devices from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at police headquarters.

The event helps prevent drug and opioid abuse, and keep it out of the water supply.

“The annual Drug Take Back events play a critical role in the Dover Police Department’s substance abuse prevention strategy. These events provide an opportunity for members of the public to safely and anonymously dispose of their medications and vape devices. This is a key strategy to accomplish the goal of minimizing unauthorized access and potential abuse of these substances."

Dover is also using free drug disposal bags, which are available at police headquarters and help make for a safe collection.
