Something else for Durham and UNH to hang their hats on.

A new study by Safewise ranked the safest college towns in the U.S., and Durham came in fourth place and was tops in New England.

The results of the study were determined by examining the educational programs, the well being, safety and health as well as FBI crime rates pertaining to each college town.

"Both on campus and on city streets, Durham residents benefit from programs like Police Explorers and Adopt-a-Cop. Designed to improve relations between local law enforcement and the UNH Greek community, the Adopt-a-Cop program provides a dedicated officer to each Greek house. This enables the police to work directly with the Greek community to provide safety training and security at social events."

This is good news for proud UNH alums like myself, as well as residents of Durham, for which I'm happy to call my hometown.
