The Definitive List of Thanksgiving Side Dishes
Stop wasting time slicing acorn squash, or sprinkling marshmallows on top of sweet potato. You only need these 6 side dishes to complete your Thanksgiving meal.
6. Cranberry Sauce
The only sweet and tangy side dish you need to cut through the mountains of savory fatness with the gravy and creamed vegetable casseroles. This colorful treat makes a great spread for your evening sandwich after the family has left and is good for days to follow.
I sneaky like the canned stuff better. I'll always side with homemade for my first choice on anything, but I just haven't met a good scratch made cranberry sauce yet. I'm talking to you grandma!
5. Green Bean Casserole
Love, love, love me some green beans swimming in cream of (whatever) soup. I'm pretty sure it's the only way I'll eat them, however, I make sure to make up for those 364 days of not eating them by loading up on Thanksgiving.
4. Mashed Potatoes
Pillowy goodness. Mashed taters can be doctored up to take on any flavor you might want, just know that if it's not garlic, you're not doing it right. Also mashed potatoes makes for a great gravy sponge.
3. Creamed Pearl Onions
Curveball? No way. The little onions are a must have at any Thanksgiving spread. Heck, even A-Train has endorsed these things.
2. Gravy
Gravy could actually double as a beverage if you ask me. Always the last to go on the plate, gravy tastes great with any side dish, and of course the turkey. Load up the plate, hit the gravy boat and pour over EVERYTHING.
1. Stuffing
My all time favorite side dish and frankly the GOAT. I make sure there's at least 2 different kinds of stuffing on the table for my Thanksgiving.
