Was there any doubt this was how it was going to go down last night? Let's be honest here.

Just to stick it to me one more time, Derek Jeter lit the whole city of New York up last night with his dramatic walk-off single in his final at-bat in Yankee Stadium. Story book ending. Perfectly timed after I mocked him with an Olbermann rant for the ages earlier in the week.

And the way he did it? Oh man it was as if my anxiety from ages 14-21 came to life and wrote the script for last night. Watching him hit a little flare to the opposite field gave me a feeling of deja vu.

The silver lining in this is that he won't be playing much this weekend at Fenway Park, at least at shortstop.  He clearly can't follow what he did last night, so there's no sense in trotting him out there, except of course for a few rounds of re2pect applause from the Sox fans still going to games.

All this writing is making me hungry; time to go eat some crow! Thanks Jeter.
