I Just Found Out This Irish Pub Exists in Portsmouth

Ever get slightly lost and stumble upon a spot you had no idea existed right in the middle of a place you pass regularly?

That happened to me this weekend going to dinner in Market Square, Portsmouth.

My mom was in town visiting, so we ventured downtown and drove her around a bit. I might have missed it, but among all the new spots popping up there, I see Ri Ra Irish Pub!

Ri Ra at 22 Market Square is located at the site of the oldest bank building in the USA, according to the restaurant's website. There's even some spaces to dine at within the old vaults of the bank!

I had heard Portland has one (might be a few other locations, too), but I have lots of fond memories from college/immediate post college years at the Providence Ri Ra.

Nice to know I can go downtown in Portsmouth and make some new ones! Whether that's grabbing a bite, drinking a cold one, or checking out the live music, there seems to be plenty to do at this local hot spot.
