This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to meet with police officers, discuss issues, and learn what the police do.

Too often communities only get together in times of sadness and grief. This is an opportunity to get together for a fun learning experience.

The Dover Police Department will be participating in National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 2, in Dover's Henry Law Park from 4-7pm. The goal of the event is for the community and law enforcement to unite with the common goal of crime prevention.

The police department's mounted patrol as well as the K9 officers will be at the event. Dover Fire and Rescue will be there along with some of the department's fire apparatus.

According to Dover Police Chief Anthony Colarusso:

“The Dover Police Department recognizes the importance of community policing and working with local residents to solve problems. National Night Out is an opportunity to interact with our community in a positive environment and promote the power and value of police-community partnerships.”

More than a dozen community organizations will be on hand to provide information related to health, safety and wellness, as well as drug prevention, treatment and recovery.

Food vendors will be on hand.

This a fun night out that the whole family will enjoy, and hopefully learn something as well. It's a wonderful night for the entire community to come together for a good cause.
