Forget the Credit Card: 23 Places in Maine That Only Take Cash
These days cash is a four-letter word. But there are a ton of places in Maine where cash is still king.
If you ask anyone under the age of 30 if they have cash on them, they'll look at you like you have three heads.
But in Maine, there are dozens of places (mostly food) that still only take cash.
The website Money Lion says that one of the big reasons a business might be cash-only is because of the simple payment process. There's no waiting for the money, and the business doesn't have to worry about credit card fees or even credit card fraud.
Need help knowing if it's cash only?
Here's a big clue, if you are about to head into one of them. Look for an ATM nearby the place. That's a big clue that you had better have cash on ya!
You can just completely leave the credit card at home. Apple Pay? Forget about it.
Places like The Cabin in Bath, Maine, a popular pizza place is only gonna take your in-hand money. The place has been around since the 70s, and there's no plans to switch up the payment either.
Or Pier Fries at Old Orchard Beach. They will be ready for you to count out the dollar bills when you get some food.
And those are just two examples.
Check out below 23 places where you better have more than a debit card in your wallet!
How do you prefer to pay? Credit? Debit? Cash? Doesn't matter as long as the food is good?
