This Saturday is Maine's 9th annual "Open LIghthouse Day." You'll be able to tour 25 of Maine's 66 lighthouses for free.

I have a thing for lighthouses. If I could jump into a Thomas Kinkade painting and live there, I would. Lighthouses are a common theme in Kinkade’s artwork. There’s something magical about them. Kinkade believed "lighthouses are primary symbols of the power of faith to guide us through the storms in our lives," according to his website. I see lighthouses as tiny castles, scattered up and down the coast and I would love to visit them all. One day I will.

Let's start with five that are within driving distance:

Portland Head Light in Maine

Wood Island Lighthouse in Biddeford, Maine

Boon Island Light in Maine

Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse in New Hampshire

White Island Lighthouse in New Hampshire

Do you have any lighthouses to add to this list?
